In the life of Gabriel

Gabriel has learned to throw tantrums! We are trying to squelch them because they often occur when he is not getting what he wants, and that is not acceptable. Until this point I have made it scott free through grocery stores without any fits. I was not so lucky yesterday in TJ Maxx, and today in Wal Mart, to make it through with a happy baby. He threw a couple of fits that, thankfully, didn't last TOO long. People still look at you, no matter how brief the tantrum is, and say, "oh it's just how the little ones are until about age four," or, instead of saying anything, they look at you like, "wow glad it's not me!" Well, I HOPE he doesn't act like that until age four. I would seriously question having another after this one on its way! Other than the occasional fit, however, he is a good boy and I love him to pieces =). Here are a few pictures of him getting TOO big for his britches:

He LOVES his light saber and makes the "Pshh, Pshh" noise, loves his daddy and helping him in the garage, and to sleep! He is such a boy. It is amazing how the character of a boy is so thoroughly ingrained in him! I love it! He is my little man, and always will be. Even though when he is with his daddy he waves at me and says, "bye bye!" haha! I Can't wait to see what the next one will be. We should find out towards the middle of April.

10 Weeks!

Look at my little one! Looks like a human now =). I still don't look pregnant and can fit all my jeans, so I was not going to post a picture, but people wanted to see one, so here it is!

First Appointment Set!

Just an update for everyone freaking out that I have YET to go to the doctor. Sheesh, what on earth did people do before women went to the doctor every 4, 2, and then 1 week (s)?! haha! Anyway, I will be 12 weeks at my first appointment in March. I look forward to the heart beat and being only a few short weeks from the big ultrasound day ;)!!! I'll definitely update after the appointment.

9 Weeks!

I'm nine weeks today! I'll take a picture at 10 weeks. I can't really tell right now that I'm poking out, so possibly next week? I still fit in my jeans and actually weighed myself again. Now the scale is at 3 lbs. SO I'll just say 3-4 lbs. and my pants still fit ;).

I am much sicker this time around. Nausea, bloating, and major fatigue! I'm also hungry ALL the time! I am really hoping the second trimester is much happier ;). It will be here before I know it! Here is what my little "resident" looks like this week:

I have not been to the doctor just yet, but I will be going very soon. With Gabriel I went to my first appointment at 13 weeks. This made the ultra sound appointment seem really close! I'll probably wait until March to go in. I look forward to hearing the heart beat =)

I'll take a order of...

Oh wait, that smells awful. I can't eat that!

I have always been the one to enjoy all sorts of foods, but lately I find myself turning my nose up at a lot. Last night I made salmon, and the smell of it is making me nauseous even today when I open the fridge. I also find myself not finishing meals, because if I continue to eat it I will gag. I'm leaning more towards bland foods now with not too many flavors. Things like this turkey sandwich and tomato:

You could say, well this will be great for your weight gain. Yes, I'm sure it will in the long run. I say this because I gain a lot up front during pregnancy and actually lose weight at the end. I've already gained 4lbs. I couldn't believe it when I stepped on the scale because I haven't been eating! I had to remind myself that this happened last time, and I only gained 25 lbs with Gabriel. After stepping on the scale I quickly ran to some old blogs and found, yes, I am following the same trend as before. I always gain like 3 lbs before a period believe it or not, so I think my body may just store up water with the hormonal changes?! I'm only writing this so when/if pregnancy #3 comes along, and I freak out again, I can look back and know it's going to be o.k.! =)!

So, here is to hoping these food and smell aversions go away in the second trimester!!!

What are my boys up to lately?

Lots of cuddles and fun at the circus =)

Grandparents Surprise

Here are two videos of the surprise =)

Enjoy =)

Special Announcement!

Baby number TWO is on its way!!!! I am 8 weeks pregnant today and will be due on September 22, 2011 =). Josh and I are thrilled and so blessed. God truly answered our prayers, again. Since I predicted Gabriel's sex correctly, I will come out and say I feel strongly that this baby is a girl. Honestly I would not care either way, we already have a name picked out and are ready for both, but it is a pretty strong feeling. Gut feeling if you will. I believe this baby will be Elizabeth Kate. I'll just get the name out there ;).

This journey began a few months ago. Josh and I wanted to begin trying for number two in November. We wanted the kids to be close in age so they can grow up together, and hopefully be best friends. Yes, I do not live in a bubble and realize it will be hard, there will be fights, etc. (remember my sister an I are only 14 months apart), but I also know that it was/is amazing to grow up with a close sibling! So, we got pregnant in December and I told Josh I was 99% sure that I was. I couldn't wait to take a test to confirm my feelings, so I took the one that was left over from Gabriel's pregnancy. This was 5 days before the end of my cycle. It went blank. The darn thing was bad. I guess that is what happens when they sit under your sink for almost 2 years! haha! So, the next day we went to Amy and Randall's house in Raleigh. She had a newer pregnancy test from her then current pregnancy (Kyleigh is now here and beautiful!). I couldn't wait to take it. She threw it at me, and I went to the bathroom. This is what we found:

This was 4 days prior to end of cycle and I got a FAINT line. We were pretty shocked and excited, but still weary because the line was so faint. Josh went out a few days later and bought me another test. A day after my end of cycle this is what we got:

Two strong lines! Yep, we are pregnant! So we threw on Gabriel's "Big Brother" T and tried to get a good picture. We failed. Maybe he was not happy?!

No, I just have a kid who hates pictures. Great!

So, there it is folks! I am not showing yet, but am starving ALL THE TIME. I also have major food aversions that I never had with Gabriel. I could eat anything with him. With this baby, I get half way through a meal and don't want to finish it. I'm hungry because I can't decide what I want to eat, and I gag if I force myself to eat something I'm not really in to. I really hope this all goes away in the second trimester because it is annoying to be hungry and not want to eat. Does that even make sense?! I also have to run to the "potty" (this is what we tell Gabriel we are doing)all the time. I hope to have Gabriel potty trained before the next one. Not because I want to push him, but because I don't want to afford the diapers :/. We will see if this works. I need to get on the ball (or pot if you will. ha!).

I hope you will enjoy my blog once again through pregnancy. This is what the baby looks like right about now:

Yes, it hardly looks human now, but in a few short months it will be another beautiful Barnett baby. I look forward to the coming months. I love being pregnant!

God be the Glory!

It is hard for me to put into words how thankful I am that Michael is now doing better! He is still in the hospital, for now, but they are thinking about releasing him very soon. He will take his own oxygen machine home, but at least they will be home! I can't imagine how tired Becca and Mike are. Becca has been there since Saturday and Mike since Monday. I just want to say that this has been rough on the whole family, but our faith in Christ has carried us through. I give all the glory to God for Michael's healing. His pneumonia is beginning to clear, and he is starting to sound much better. I just can't imagine that he would be getting better so quickly if God's hand was not in this. After countless prayers sent up by family, friends, and people who don't even know Michael (my grandparent's church in Florida, and ours here in town), he is coming home very soon! I said Christ would be glorified in this and He is. There is no other God that can heal the sick, comfort the heavy of heart, and bring peace in His presence like Christ. The God that gave His only begotten son that WE might live and have life more abundant. The God that gave His only son to die on a cross for our sins to be forgiven. He is Jehovah Rapha "The Lord that Healeth thee!"

Pray Please

This blog post is just to ask for prayer for Michael Fowler (the newest, one month old, addition to the Fowler family). He has been in the hospital since Saturday with RSV which then turned to bronchiolitis. He was tested for pneumonia this morning, but we have not gotten the test results back yet. Please just pray for his health. The little guy can't hardly breath, and it breaks your heart to see such a little infant struggling. He is only 11 lbs. We have been praying non-stop, but need your prayers too...
