28 Week Pics

The first image is Gabriel at 29 weeks and Kate at 28 weeks. I was wearing the same dress, so I thought it would be a good comparison. A week isn't much of a difference although I think Kate might be looking slightly bigger! She is making big movements now that are super cool to watch. I love watching her roll across my stomach =).

28 Week Appointment- Trimester 3 begins

Today was my 28 week appointment and glucose test. I ate my candy bar, waited an hour, and passed the test =). Downing a candy bar in 3-5 minutes isn't as appetizing as it sounds, but not awful either. I would have been better off with some milk, but that was not allowed.

My blood squirted out on the chair (yuck!) when she stuck in the needle. I have never seen that happen before, but she says it happens with some people. Elizabeth Kate moved across my belly when the midwife went to listen with the doppler. Her heart rate is good at 150! My blood pressure is also good, although I can't remember the number. I was pretty hungry getting there! I have to eat on a regular schedule these days! I am at 133 lbs putting me at 15 gained. Pretty on track with last time. Baby Center says I should gain 11 lbs in this THIRD TRIMESTER, so that would be right at 25-26 lbs again.

I filled out my hospital registration (ALREADY!), and we are down to two week appointments. I can't believe how fast everything is going by. I'm looking forward to getting in shape again after she is born. I promised Joshua I would, although he says I'm beautiful anyway ;0). I just don't feel it this time around. Probably because of different hormones and being less in shape.

Picture tomorrow! I woke up at 7:00 and look like a frump ;)

Week 27 Pics

I forgot to post these and I only have 2 days until 28 weeks. Oops!

Glucose test bright and early tomorrow :/. Then I assume going to eat something b/c I will be starving by that point. Oh, and we are getting a dresser tomorrow (yah!). We will have to refurbish it (strip and paint), but I think it will be fun...

26 big ones!

So it struck me today (as I created a contract for an October wedding) that I really don't have long to go before I get into the really uncomfortable stage of pregnancy. Probably another 8-10 weeks before I'll be singing the "get this baby out" tune. With weddings, getting the nursery together, and shopping for clothes (baby boy is growing like a weed and then baby girl needs some too) that time will go fast.

Elizabeth STILL does not move very much. I will be happy to see her little self (praying she is healthy), because she is so quiet. Maybe she is just mellow? I wouldn't complain. I just want to know she is o.k.. She sits in awkward places that make my back hurt on a pretty regular basis. By the end of the day I just want to sit down and do nothing. Although it does make me feel good to get out and walk. I've been getting pretty good exercise between weddings, engagement shoots (especially those in Wilmington), and walking Gabriel around the block. I believe I will end up gaining less this go around, but who knows. Yesterday I ended up with a mocha frappe from McDonalds and two chicken biscuits. I had THE most awful headache the night before last, and contribute it partly to hunger. I was a little hungry before bed, but it was midnight and I didn't want to eat. SO I woke up with a migraine from Hell (pardon the language, but it seriously probably did come from hell after the whole fall of man thing!). I stayed up for 2 hours before the pain meds kicked in seeing spots, rubbing my neck, and trying to keep the blood from shooting into my head. Then my tummy started hurting. Anyway, so when I woke up that morning I wanted the fattiest food I could think of. Bingo, McDonalds is 8 min. from the house!

In nursery news.....nothing has happened... Josh is reluctant to move his hunk of a mess in our room. I am too, but I am also getting a huge bump and still have yet to paint the trim. Actually the other three walls need to be painted, but I'm more worried about the trim because it is hard balancing on a chair, holding one hand over my head, and painting a straight line. I'm a little OCD about it too, so it takes a little while. My back then cramps up more. If he doesn't watch the time he is going to be doing it while I supervise. I hope you are reading this Mr. Barnett.

Anyway, I think that is it for 26 weeks. Two weeks until the glucose test, but no doc visits before then. Oh, I did have a meeting with a nurse at Cape Fear (thus the contract I made today. We got the job!) and she told me Cape Fear is getting a new mom/baby wing! This means my recovery room will be much nicer this go around. They are moving everything/everyone in August, so JUST in time!

25 Weeks!

I totally forgot about my 25 week post until now! Here is a pic:

I did get my hair cut last week. I really wanted longer bangs but ended up with short ones. They are REALLY annoying! Yesterday I was late going to Wilmington because they were sticking straight up and would not go down. I tried the brush, straight iron, gel, and lots of hairspray. I resorted to a bobby pin! The only good news is my hair grows fast. It is also lighter, so that is great for the summer.

Liz Kay is getting bigger and stronger. I feel her more often now and see her moving across my belly! She loves to sit on my bladder and roll up on my left side. She definitely causes me more pain than I had with Gabriel. It is either the different hormones or me being out of shape, but my back hurts now. Josh and I have been walking to "walk it off" and that seems to be working. I can't really stretch because the belly is getting too large ;). Icy Hot worked too!

I have now purchased a crib, but it is sitting in our room until the room is painted. I found the exact Pali Crib that Gabriel has in white. I love it! The previous owner took GREAT care of it. It did not have a single scratch on it until mom and I brought it home. It got scratched in the car :(. Pali says I can get non toxic paint and touch it up, so I will.. one day! Everything is moving so fast!

I am looking for several things on Etsy. One of which is a dresser. I did find a great little shop:

I did want green, but I would settle for white too. At least if it were "vintage" or shabby chic I wouldn't have to worry about her scratching the dresser.

I think that is all for this week! Oh, I did get a little pool for Gabriel. So pics of that to come ;)

Gabriel Kisses

I just had to note that the little guy is now loving kisses =). He comes up to me, grabs me around the neck, and plants sweet kisses on me! I LOVE it!!! He also wants us to kiss boo boo's, which is super cute. He will hold out his hand and cry until we kiss it. Then, magically, it is all better. I didn't know if this was just a "myth" of parenthood, but it turns out to be real. He is a terror at 19 months, but I'm loving every -most every- minute!

24 Week Check Up

I went to the OB today and will be back on the 29th of June for a glucose test. Elizabeth is right on par with me at 24 weeks. The midwife says she will probably be a similar size baby to Gabriel (not too big!). I'm happy about that! She scooted away from the fetal doppler today as we tried to listen to her heart beat. We got it though, and she sounds good =). I have gained 12 lbs. This puts me right at where I was at 22 weeks with Gabriel. For some reason my 23 week blog said I had gained 17 lbs, but that doesn't sound right (12-17 in 1 week?!). Anyway, I'll just say I'm tracking slightly smaller, weight gain wise, than with "G." This is probably from chasing him around all day ;).

I have been pretty hot lately. It is 99 degrees here today and HUMID. That, I think, is the worst part. Even in a summer dress I want to die. I always forget how hot summers are in NC. Bleck!

I will post a 24 week pic tomorrow when I'm actually 24 weeks.

In Gabriel news. He received his last series shot (until teen age years) today. I say it that way because he still needs one more of the DTaP and Polio, but this was the last, and only, new shot. He got the PCV, and because of his age only needs one dose. I thought this one to be important because a large percentage of infant mortality is from pneumonia. the Pc virus is caused by the Pc bacteria, and is the most common cause of pneumonia and blood infection. So, I am considering this one for Elizabeth too. It scares me that it is a new vaccine (fairly), but I am watching Gabriel closely for reactions. Also giving him Omega 3 fish oil, Vitamin A, Vitamin C, and probiotics for the next few days. This rounds out his shot record to: DTaP, Polio, and PCV. I realize the school system wouldn't accept this, but we don't have to worry about that ;). Home school is the school of choice for this family!
